Athens Red, White and Boom Drive-in Firework ShowThe Athens-Limestone Tourism has been given the go-ahead from the state fire marshal's office to have the annual Red, White & Boom display with one twist – Drive-In style viewing to meet the safety guidelines laid out by the Centers for Disease Control, the Governor’s Office and Alabama Public Health. The Red, White & Boom: Drive-In Edition Firework Show will be held... ... on the July 4th at Athens Middle School/Athens Stadium near the intersection of U.S. Highway 31 and Alabama Highway 251 with view available from adjacent properties. Athens-Limestone Tourism has partnered with Outlaw 105.1 to provide synchronized music to go along with the firework show and other Independence Day music before the show begins.
Teresa Todd, Athens-Limestone Tourism President said, “Initially, we decided to postpone until later in the year but with the community pleas to have the show on the 4th of July and the relaxed guidelines for organizations hosting events, we reconsidered having the event.” Mrs. Todd continued, “One our main priority is protecting our guest and community from the COVID-19 virus and the best way to meet this goal is to keep everyone in their vehicle as much as possible. If everyone will cooperate and remain in their vehicles, use mask and social distance if they need to get out of their vehicle, this can be a fairly safe event for everyone.” The show will begin anywhere from 8:30PM to 8:45PM. It is advised for people to find their parking spots by 8:00PM. There will not be any other activities associated with this event.
