Southern Troubadour Matt Prater Comes to Summer Concert Series in Athens, ALMatt Prater, a singer-songwriter, is a great blend of Traditional Country music, Honky Tonk sounds and soulful storytelling with Folk, and Roots music influences. He sings music relevant to all generations. My favorite song he sings is from his CD 'Tables and Chairs' called 'The Barber' said Teresa Todd, director for Athens-Limestone Tourism. It is about... ... a barber in Athens AL written by Prater. You can go to his website https://www.mattpratersmusic.com/videos where you can see a video of "The Barber" with the shop, the Barber and other parts of downtown Athens in the song (story) he relates to. My mom's Beauty shop was adjacent to a Barbershop, I remember visiting the barber and it was just like Prater's song Todd continued. Prater performs all over the south; Nashville at the Blue Bird Cafe, The Nashville Palace, Muscle Shoals, Tuscumbia's Rattlesnake Saloon, Orange Beach and all parts in-between. “Picking up a guitar and learning to play is the easy part of songwriting. Stitching stories with a straight forward frankness and making it look easy is the tough part. Matt Prater aced both" stated The Alternate Root Magazine. Todd invites everyone to come out to the Courthouse Square on July 19th from 7-9PM and hear our hometown homegrown gift to Athens, you will truly enjoy every minute!
