Local Scream Attraction Introduces Summer Venture
"Doomsday Fireworks, we'll blow your mind!"
The people behind the seasonal scream attraction, Doomsday Haunts, are probably known by haunted house enthusiast and attendees for their raging monsters, mutants and undead wandering the dark and terrorizing thrill seekers. However, they are about to be known for a new seasonal venture, Doomsday Fireworks that is opening east of Athens on U.S. Highway 72 just in time for the Fourth of July.
When asked about their motivation for this new adventure, owners Eric and Hannah Riley shared: "As much as we love to make people scream, jump, and run; we also enjoy making them stand in awe. Fireworks have that affect on people. For some it's emotional and other it's exciting. Simply put, we enjoy fun, entertainment, shiny things that go "boom", and honoring our wonderful country." Doomsday Fireworks comes with a bit of showmanship as well - anyone who knows Doomsday Haunt would expect nothing less. Every night there is an opening ceremony that includes the National Anthem and the carrying of a 50-foot American flag by the actors. Of course, don't forget to charge your cellphone or grab the camera because there are photo ops by Caustic the Uncle Sam Clown (one of the beloved giant body harness costumes that used at Doomsday Haunt) near the Humvee, Deuce and half truck and helicopter that are props of Doomsday Haunt as well. Be sure to look for the new inflatable photobooth with small props and fun lighting near the photobooth to enhance your shots too. If you're looking to add some "boom" to your holiday plans you'll find 500 gram cakes like "One Bad Mother", "Fire Thief", "Not in My Yard", "Widow Maker" and more. Toss a few smaller cakes in like "Blood, Sweat, and Tears", "Peace Out", "Merica" and more. Lovers of the Excalibur and Excalibur reloadable lines will rejoice. Death Squad 6" super shells - check! Doomsday Fireworks also has fountains, multipacks, Roman Candles, rockets, sparklers, glow sticks, small glags, and novelty items too - something for everyone to add a little bang, boom, and sparkle to the night. Want to find Doomsday Fireworks? Head east on U.S. Highway 72 from Athens to 25570 U.S. Highway 72 across from Bethel Cemetery after Mooresville Road. Look for the Deuce and Half truck with a big "Doomsday Firework" sign on the side. You'll also see a Humvee, a helicopter, and a 10-foot tall Uncle Sam Clown named Caustic. When you pull in there's a big Red, White, and Blue striped building. They're hours are June 25th until July 1st: 9am - 10pm and July 2nd-4th 8am- until we sell out. Midnight or later.
