High Cotton artists supporting efforts to fight cancer through their creativity
... Tuesday, March 12, from 6-8 p.m. at High Cotton Arts. The class is $40, and participants will take home a purple wooden door hanger with the words “Courage” “Hope” and “Faith.” Bishop is donating half of the proceeds to Relay for Life of Limestone County.
In order to purchase the ribbon cut outs, Bishop needs participants to register by Thursday, March 8, at 9 a.m. time. Email Bishop at 256-777-5066 or email her at sandabishopgmail.com. Maurer is a stained glass artist and made purple sun catchers for the City of Athens Relay for Life Team to sell as a fundraiser. She made 20 and most of those sold, but she is ordering more purple glass to make additional Relay sun catchers. The sun catchers are $20 and are available at City Hall. See Kim Glaze or Holly Hollman to pick up a sun catcher or to place an order. The sun catchers are various shades of purple from dark to light. “Athens Arts League and the High Cotton Arts artists have often collaborated with Relay for Life because all of us have been impacted by cancer in some way,” said Athens Arts League Board Member and Relay for Life member Holly Hollman. “Relay Teams fight not only to raise funds but to raise awareness and support those facing this battle. Art as well is a creative tool to raise funds, raise awareness and support each other.”
