Celebrate Summer with Fridays After FiveATHENS- Celebrate summer by enjoying all Downtown Athens has to offer the entire family! Fridays After Five will be on selected Fridays of each month in June - August, beginning this Friday, June 19, from 5-8 p.m. in downtown Athens, AL. Future dates include July 17 and August 14. Put the dates on your calendar. Fridays After Five was created to attract residents and out-of-towners alike to dine, shop and enjoy live entertainment while appreciating the historical beauty of the downtown area. Participating businesses and restaurants will remain... ... open on these Fridays. In addition, there will be local food truck vendors this week, Rita’s Italian Ice and Happi Pappi Beignets. Tere Richardson, Athens Main Street Director says “Enjoy our expanded outdoor dining while listening to great music. Take a stroll around the Square and check out our fabulous shops!”
Matthew Fisher, owner of Wildwood Catering and Wildwood Deli is looking forward to serving the Fridays After Five patrons, “Wildwood is ready to WOW the Foodies and Families for Fridays After Five!” Wildwood’s Friday dinners are delicious. They offer several entrée selections such as handout ribeyes, seared scallops, Atlantic salmon, and blue lump crab cakes. Fridays After Five will once again coincide with the successful Summer Concert Series to promote local artists in the North Alabama area. The Summer Concert series, hosted by Athens-Limestone County Tourism, will be on the Courthouse steps in front of Marion street. Headlining this Fridays After Five will be Tomcat and Bark the Dawg. They will be playing this Friday from 7-9 p.m. Please bring your lawn chairs and remember to social distance at all times. “Fridays After Five provides a relaxed and casual atmosphere for people to come and enjoy what all downtown has to offer,” said Regina Crawford – owner of Crawford’s gifts.
