Alabama Veterans Museum & Archives To Host Faith and Courage Exhibit in Julywent to foreign shores to protect the "inalienable rights" of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. One group in particular is the focus of the month long exhibit, Faith and Courage, at the Alabama Veterans Museum and Archives -- the chaplains.
These unsung heroes often demonstrated amazing courage on the battlefield and many of the stories and actions of heroism are shared in the exhibit. Military Chaplains dedicate themselves in service to those in harm's way with self-sacrifice and demonstrations of personal values, traits and traditions that are rarely acknowledged beyond the battlefield. This exhibit stands to acknowledge their service and sacrifice alongside their gun-handling brothers and sisters. The award-winning collection of photographs and text stretches from World War I to the present and is smaller traveling exhibit of the permanent one housed at the Tennessee Museum of Aviation in Sevierville, TN. The exhibit will be at the Alabama Veterans Museum through July 15 extended to July 29th and is open and free to the public. The museum is located at 100 West Pryor Street in Athens and is open Monday through Saturday from 8:00AM-3:00PM. For more information: 256-771-7578
