Calhoun Community College Announces Events in Celebration of Black History Month 2019Decatur, AL -- Calhoun Community College has announced its calendar of events planned throughout the month of February in celebration of Black History Month. All events are sponsored by the college’s Black Student Alliance (BSA) and are free and open to the public. Calhoun Community College 2019 Black History Month Calendar of Events Movie Week - BSA’s Viewer’s Choice – Historical Films of 2018 Decatur Campus – Room 167, Math, Science and Administration Building Black Panther – Tuesday, February 5, 2019 12:30 pm The Hate U Give – Wednesday, February 6, 2019 12:30 pm Black Klansman – Thursday, February 7, 2019 12:30 pm Huntsville Campus – Room 33 Black Panther – Monday, February 11, 2019 11:00 am The Hate U Give – Tuesday, February 12, 2019 11:00 am Black Klansman – Wednesday, February 20, 2019 11:00 am TBD - Tuesday, February 26, 2019 11:00 am Other activities and events Tuesday, February 12, 2019 - 9:30 am “North Alabama’s African Americans during the Civil War” Decatur Campus – Room 166, Math, Science and Administration (MSA) Building Presenter: Peggy Allen Towns, Author, “Duty Driven: The Flight of North Alabama’s Africans American during the Civil War” and “Scottsboro Unmasked: Decatur’s Story” Monday, February 18, 2019 Civil Rights Journey to Montgomery, Alabama The Black Student Alliance is sponsoring a trip to the Legacy Museum and the National Memorial for Peace and Justice in Montgomery, AL. Vans will depart from both Decatur and Huntsville campuses. Students must RSVP with a Black Students Alliance sponsor to reserve a spot.
