Keller's Artwork Featured at Huntsville Botanical Garden... an autobiographical representation of Dr. Keller, with each work of art modeled from a page of her sketchbook journal.
The elaborate creative design process behind each art piece began with expressing a thought, mood, or idea on paper during her daily sketching sessions. After the sketch was completed, Dr. Keller would photograph the page she was working on and continue to add more complexity to her creation by digitally manipulating the photo’s color balance and saturation. Finally, Dr. Keller would bring the piece to life by having it commercially printed on canvas and using acrylic paint to continue her creative process. Dr. Keller is an instructor at Athens State and holds classes at the Alabama Center for the Arts in Decatur, Alabama, the region’s premier art center and degree program. College courses taught at the facility will lead to an Associate of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree with class offerings that include art appreciation, painting, drawing, computer graphics, sculpture, ceramics, and pottery as well as a teaching major, leading to licensure for art instructors. Dr. Keller’s artwork is available for purchase at the Huntsville Botanical Garden with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the Garden. The exhibit will remain open until December 31. Athens State University was founded in 1822, making it the oldest continuously-operated institute of higher learning in the state of Alabama.
