Goebel To Hold Organ Recital and Lecture At Athens State University
... the repertoire of the German Baroque period and the promotion of smaller organs as concert instruments. He has given numerous local recitals and workshops and has published research concerning the relationships between sound (especially in music), literature, philosophy, and media technologies. Dr. Goebel’s performance will be part of “Navigating the Rapids: Leading Through Change and Conflict,” a leadership conference hosted by the Center for Lifelong Learning. In his lecture titled, “The Organ in Church Worship and as a Concert Instrument,” Dr. Goebel will discuss the organ's history and importance in church worship and concert settings. The lecture will be followed by a recital performed on McCandless Hall’s historic organ. In addition to Dr. Goebel’s performance, the conference will feature networking opportunities, a Q&A panel, and a message from keynote speaker, Ronnie Brewer. Brewer serves as a pastor, leadership coach, and Director of Alabama Cooperative Fellowship. The conference will take place on Tuesday, September 25 from 9 am – 1:30 pm in McCandless Hall. Dr. Goebel’s lecture and recital will occur from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm in the same venue. The event is free of charge and open to the public.
