Athens State To Host Art Exhibit, Film Screen In Honor of Black History Month

Dateline: January 30, 2019, Athens, AL – In honor of Black History Month, Athens State University will be hosting two events on Tuesday, February 26. The first will be the opening of an art exhibit in the...
... Athens State Library from 4:30 – 5:45 pm. The exhibit will be themed around the African American experience in Northern Alabama from pre-Civil War to present day, honoring the long history of people of color in Alabama.
Following the opening reception, a film screening and forum discussion of “Cracking the Codes: The System of Racial Inequity” will take place in McCandless Hall from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Both of the events are free and open to the public.
