Summer Concert Series – Singing on the Square Returns with Toe-tapping Evenings of MusicDust off the camp chairs and mark the calendars as Athens-Limestone County Tourism Association host the 2019 Summer Concert Series in downtown Athens, Alabama with sponsor Jimmy Smith Buick GMC. The majestic stonework of the Limestone County Courthouse will serve as the backdrop for the free-to-the-public concert series taking place on the Marion Street side from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on select Fridays from May through August. The kickoff show will be... ... North Alabama favorites, Trippin’ Dixie on May 24th. Trippin’ Dixie feature of Pop, Rock, Blues, R&B, Country and Southern Rock is sure to have everyone tapping their toes if not up on their feet dancing. The next show in the series will feature Gospel talent One Voice in response to request of series’ fans. One Voice will fill the air with Gospel, Contemporary Gospel and Hymnal-inspired songs on June 21st. Bringing a little Honky Tonk and Traditional Country to the courthouse steps will be crowd favorite, Matt Prater and Friends. Matt Prater has been making headlines and tapping toes around the world with appearances on radio shows, at festivals and venues big and small. Make plans to kick up your heels with Matt and his friends on July 19th. The Summer Concert Series will say goodbye to the 2019 season with the Athens State University Community Band on August 9th. The all-volunteer band will take to the steps for a night of thrilling music favorites.
