Continue the Outdoor Legacy of National Hunting and Fishing Day in Limestone County AlabamaNational Hunting and Fishing Day invites expert and novice to continue the tradition set out 100 years ago by hunters, anglers, scientist and conservationist to not only preserve the rich wilderness and wildlife of the Nation but to introduce family and friends to the joy of the outdoors. The basic ideas of National Hunting and Fishing Day continued under the guidance of President Theodore Roosevelt and came to full fruition with Senatorial Resolution in June 1971, Congressional Resolution in early 1972, and finally Presidential Proclamation under Richard Nixon in May 1972. Declared to occur annually on 4th Saturday each year... .. this year's commemoration falls on September 22nd. Hunters, anglers, and conservations are encouraged to mark National Hunting and Fishing Day by partaking in hunting, fishing, boating, hitting the firing range, walking the trails enjoy nature, birdwatching and enjoying the company the company of friends and family of all experience levels.
Limestone County is great place to celebrate with the Elk River Canoe & Kayak Trail, rich fishing grounds with boat ramps and marina that serve Our Water, the Community Archery Range at Swan Creek Park, the firing range at Swan Creek Wildlife Management Area, a collection of trails great for walking, cycling, birdwatching and just taking a stroll.
