The keynote speaker will be...

... Cortney Cooper Slaughter, Alabama National Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year. Additional presentations will be made by Vic Wilson, Executive Director of the Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools, and Huntsville Achievement School Director, Richard Reynolds. The conference will be introduced by Athens State President, Dr. Bob Glenn, and College of Education Dean, Dr. Patricia Sims, and will consist of breakout sessions facilitated by local P-12 educators and Athens State faculty.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for us to introduce high school students to the possibilities of education as a career,” states Dr. Sims. “The previous conferences have been a huge success and we are looking forward to reaching out to new future educators who will benefit tremendously from this experience.”

In addition, the We TEACH conference will honor distinguished Athens State University College of Education alumni for their outstanding efforts. Participating students will tour the campus and be provided lunch. Awards will also be presented. The distribution of door prizes will signal an end to this exciting event.
