Calhoun’s Athletics Department to host ‘Pack the Park’ September 10 The Calhoun Community College Athletics Department will have its first “Pack the Park” event on Sunday, September 10, 1:00 pm at the Calhoun... Softball field, 6250 US Hwy 31 N, Tanner, AL. This event is free and open to the public.
The baseball team will take on 31 North, while the softball team debuts the 2017-18 Lady Warhawks in an intrasquad game. This game will highlight 10 freshmen and 12 returning players from the fall season opener. The event will conclude with the 11th Annual Fast Pitch Alumni Game at 2:30 pm. According to Calhoun Athletic Director Dr. Nancy Keenum, “This event will be a day of fun for all ages. In conjunction with the baseball and softball games, there will be inflatables and other activities for children of all ages to enjoy.” Keenum also added, “We will also have a limited selection of refreshments available for purchase at the concession stand, which will consist of sodas and candy.” In addition to the “Pack the Park” activities, the golf teams will open their second year of competition on the road. The women’s golf team will begin play in the Birmingham-Southern tournament on September 9 and the men’s golf team will play in the Wallace-Hanceville Invitational on September 10.
