Inclement Weather Postpones Going Gold & Flash Dash46From the organizers of the "Be Bold, Go Gold" and Flash Dash46... ATTENTION: Since we have yet to outfit our vehicle with a Flux Capacitor from O'Reilly's (assuming we are not the only ones), and because Athens and Limestone County schools have canceled afternoon activities, and some schools even getting out early, we will be moving the "Be Bold, Go Gold" event from tonight to... ...Tuesday, September 5, at the Limestone County Courthouse. We really need help getting this information out to everyone, so please, share. Registration will open at 5 p.m., the Walk will begin at 6 p.m., followed by encouragement from childhood cancer survivor Mackenzey Cain, nurses from the St. Jude clinic. County Commissioner Jason Black will read a proclamation recognizing September as childhood cancer month, then flip the light switch to turn the courthouse GOLD. We will have a free movie on the lawn (The Avengers), with hamburgers, pizza, and more available. All proceeds from the Flash Dash 46 Walk will go to Leah's family to off-set a cost that no parent should have to pay. This will also give you more time to gather a team for The Flash Dash 46 Walk at the event. Between 43 and 46 kids are diagnosed in one day. Today, two classrooms of children will go to bed devastated, confused, scared, and in shock from receiving this news. Our county has had a rough month in regards to childhood cancer, so we are more charged than ever to unify the community in fighting this monster, and raise awareness to what is the number one killer of children by disease.
