July 4th Fireworks in Athens AL
The annual Athens-Limestone County Fireworks Show will be held on Tuesday July 4th at approximately 9PM at the Athens High School stadium on Hwy 31 N. and Hwy 251. The free, quality of life show is sponsored by the City of Athens, Athens-Limestone County Tourism Association and Limestone County Commission.
There will be no seating allowed in the Athens High School stadium. Visitors and guests may park at the High School parking lot, Athens Plaza and where parking is permitted.
Athens Police will restrict access to U.S. 31 starting around 7:30 p.m. During and after the show police will prohibit median access. East side traffic will exit to the east and west side traffic will exit to the west.
“Motorists need to watch for increased pedestrian traffic in the area and expect travel delays as officers deal with traffic congestion,” Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson said.
Tourism Director, Teresa Todd, will be on-call for additional information during the day and may be reached at 256-232-5411. "We draw hundreds of people from other cities and communities who do not have a fireworks show," said Todd. When we combine our out of town guests with the Athens-Limestone County population we actually have thousands of people enjoying our restaurants, hotels and retail merchants during this celebratory time.
After the fireworks show, be sure to stop by our downtown to view our historic Courthouse as the symbolic patriotic colors of red-white & blue will be a magnificent light show for the remainder of the evening.
