Annual Christmas Tradition Returns to Athens Big Spring Memorial Park Dec. 1

The magic of twinkling lights, glistening ornaments, and fresh evergreens will soon take over the  scenic Athens Big Spring Memorial Park in the historic Beaty District for the Athens North Pole Stroll.
This annual Christmas tradition sponsored by Athens-Limestone County Tourism with the help of Lowe's of Athens and the Athens Park and Recreation Department will be...
... open to the public to stroll, oh and ah from December 1st to December 30th featuring trees sponsored and decorated by local businesses, organizations, groups, and families.   Keep Athens-Limestone Beautiful's "Tired Family" will be returning as well with a new theme and scene to enchant visitors.

Creativity will be unleashed upon the nearly 7' tall trees and you never know what you'll find on the tree or done to the tree!  Last year's crowd-pleaser was a "Charlie Brown Tree" -- so there's a lofty goal for the decorators to aim for.

The Athens-Limestone Animal Shelter and the Friends of the Athens-Limestone Animal Shelter will be returning with their Deck the Halls with Jingle Paws Tree celebrating family pets on two trees -- one in memorial of beloved passed pets and another with pets that fill our lives today.
(For more about placing your furry family member on one of these trees, see the forms below)

Be sure to look for some very special trees amid the group this year that will hold special meanings for local families honoring loved ones with special ornaments and tributes.

There are a couple of days to circle on your calendar that will be perfect days to stroll through the park.  The first date is December 7th for the Trustmark Christmas Parade featuring a "Winter Wonderland" theme and is anticipated to roll up Hobbs Street around 6:00PM.  What better way to start or end your evening than with a little stroll amid the trees at Athens Big Spring Park which is just steps away from the parade route.  Be sure to bring your camera or have a freshly charged cell and grab pictures with the festive trees as your backdrop or with the whimsical "Tired Family".

Parents and Grandparents will definitely want to circle December 16th  on the calendar because Santa will be coming to town!   Santa will come and visit with the children at the Athens North Pole Stroll - so be sure to bring your camera or cell and snap a picture to add to your Christmas memories.
