March Events

Below are some of the events that have been submitted for March.  This list is subject to change as more events are added so we invite to check back often to see what is going on in Athens and Limestone County.

​March 1, 2022 -- Mardi Gras Parade – Athens has been the proud host city of the South’s smallest Mardi Gras Parade. Athens Arts League has decided they will keep the fabulous festivities small, but even happier this year. High Cotton Arts center aisle at 103 W. Washington Street in downtown Athens, will be the location for a community created shoe box float exhibit which will also be viewed on social media sites like the Facebook,and Youtube sites of Athens Arts League and High Cotton Arts.

Mar 5, 2002 -- Coffee Call, sponsored by the Alabama Veterans Museum & Archives, will take between 8:00am and 9:00am, location at 114 W. Pryor Street
​

Mar 5, 2022 -- Play Outside Day Families everywhere are encouraged to get outside the first Saturday of every month and play in public parks, enjoy trails, hit the waterways, explore greenspaces and just play! Limestone County offers over 20 trails to explore including walking, cycling, horseback riding and kayaking – perfect for all ages. For more information:  256-232-5411

Mar 5, 2022 -- March Cruise In on the Square in downtown Athens from 6:00PM-9:00PM. No judging, no trophies-- just show and shine; enjoy the shops and eateries around the Square.  All cars, trucks, and bikes welcome.
​
Mar 8, 2022 -- In honor of International Women’s Day, Athens State University will be celebrating with a special event on March 8 at 10:30 am in Carter Gymnasium. Keynote speaker, Kristin Scroggin, will deliver a message titled "Shoot for the Stars," a discussion about being real, setting goals without guilt, and realizing the importance of self-care. Lunch will be served at 11:30 AM, along with fun trivia games to keep everyone engaged and allow networking among other attendees.

Mar 11, 2022 -- Empty Bowls Event - Save the date! Empty Bowls ‘22 will have the same good soup and cool handmade pottery bowls at Revival. Take out only this year. Tickets available soon. Money will go to organizational that work with hunger issues in our community. The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

March 12, 2022 -- Elk River Cleanup. ​Please join us as we host our annual Elk River Cleanup! KALB invites individuals, families, businesses, groups, and organizations to join with us to attack trash at the Elk River and surrounding areas. LOCATION: West Limestone - Meet at the Boat Launch off Hatchery Road REGISTRATION:  Please email KALB at KALBCares@gmail.com or call 256-233-8000 to let us know you will be participating. This information is helpful to ensure we have enough supplies and provisions for breakfast and lunch. Registration is not required to participate; however, is helpful to organizers.

Mar 12, 2022 -- Athens Arts League Show - The Athens Arts League is hosting a show on March 12 at
High Cotton Arts from 7 to 11 p.m. featuring Nolan’s Flight, Forest Haven and Joe Whitworth. It is a free show.
​
Mar 12, 2022 -- St. Patrick’s Day Party - The Post and the Disabled Veterans Associations (DAV) are
combining together for a fundraiser for both posts. The group “STAIGHT BROKE” will be performing. There is a cover charge of $5 at the entrance and Food will be available to purchase which will go to the DAV association. The event is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. until Midnight.

Mar 13, 2022 -- Remember...Spring Forward at 2:00AM   Set your clocks ahead/forward one hour at 2:00AM (or before you go to bed Saturday, March 12th).  Remember to change the batteries in your Smoke/Fire/Carbon Monoxide Alarms, weather radios, and emergency flashlights, check expiration dates, rotate and replace the supplies in your Storm Shelter, First Aid Kits, Roadside Emergency Kits, and Boat Safety Kits.

March 17, 2022 – Give at the Red Cross Blood Drive 9am - 1pm @ the Athens Limestone Tourism Office Meeting Room. 

Mar 17, 2022 -- St. Patrick's Day Observed  Céad mile failte -- a hundred thousand welcomes!  Don your green to avoid the pinch and celebrate St. Patrick's Day with a feast and friends in Athens-Limestone.  Peruse the shops for the perfect touch of green for home, hearth, or heart.

March 25, 2022 -- Opening Ceremonies for the Ardmore TN Ballparks.Come Celebrate the kick-off to a new softball and new baseball season at the park and see all the renovations that have happened this year! Fri Mar 25th 5:00pm - 6:00pm. Ardmore Ridge Road, Ardmore Ridge Rd, Ardmore, TN
