Below are some of the events that have been submitted for April.  This list is subject to change as more events are added so we invite to check back often to see what is going on in Athens and Limestone County.

 
Apr 1 - 7, 2022 -- National Walking Week hosted by AVA_America's Walking Club is a great time to get out and about on Athens-Limestone's trails, tracks and treks including the AVA Athens Historic Volksmarch (you can explore trail options more here) to explore and take steps to benefit your heart, mind and spirit.  Trail brochures are available at the Athens-Limestone Visitors Center 100 North Beaty Street in Athens Monday-Friday from 8:00AM-4:00PM

April 2, 2022 -- Coffee Call at the Alabama Veterans Museum. From 8:00am till 9:00am. 114 West Pryor Street

April 2, 2022 -- We are kicking off our re-inaugural plant sale in Tanner, AL starting April 2! Come see the new facilities and livestock at our Advanced Agriculture facility! Tanner High School Ag Shop, 12060 Sommers Rd.  Call Laura Graham at 256.614.9609

Apr 2, 2022  -- Play Outside Day  Families everywhere are encouraged to get outside the first Saturday of every month and play in public parks, enjoy trails, hit the waterways, explore greenspaces and just play!  Limestone County offers over 20 trails to explore including walking, cycling, horseback riding and kayaking – perfect for all ages.  For more information: 256-232-5411

Apr 2, 2022 -- Trash Attach Days 
in Limestone County. Residents will be able to dump debris for free for spring and fall cleanup. Limestone County residents may take a trailer or pickup truck load of debris to the Republic Services Transfer Station, 16100 BFI Lane (off Hwy. 72, just east of 7 Mile Post Rd.). Times will be 7:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. GUIDELINES AND RESTRICTIONS: Maximum of 4 automobile tires, any appliance with Freon must have the compressor removed or be accompanied by a certificate stating that the Freon has been professionally removed. No hazardous household or medical waste. Contractors may NOT dump for free. Must provide PROOF RESIDENCY (EX. CURRENT UTILITY BILL).

​Apr 2, 2022 -- 2nd  Annual AMVETs Post 21 Horse, Pony, and Mule Fun Day at the Limestone County Sheriff's Rodeo Arena (AL-99 on the right past the Elm Street Intersection in Athens) from 9:00AM-2:00PM.

Apr 2, 2022 -- Athens Historic Walking Tours   Join the Athens-Limestone County Tourism Association at the Athens-Limestone Visitors Center (100 North Beaty Street in Athens) at 9:45AM for check-in and tour selection.  Expect a 1-2 hour long tour which begins at 10:00AM.  Comfortable shoes and a light jacket are suggested.  Free. Apr 2, 2022 -- Mooresville Historic Walking Tours   Join the Town of Mooresville at the Mooresville Post Office (Lauderdale Street) at 9:45AM for a 1-hour free tour of the history and architecture of Mooresville.  www.MooresvilleAL.com

​Apr 2, 2022 -- April Cruise-In on the Square in downtown Athens from 6:00PM-9:00PM. No judging, no trophies-- just show and shine; enjoy the shops and eateries around the Square. All cars, trucks, and bikes welcome.

April 8 and 9, 2022 -- 2022 Elkmont Beauty WalkThe Elkmont Band will host their 17th annual beauty walk on April 8 and 9. Registration is going on now through March 24. Entry fee is
$40 (if you are going to enter a photo in photogenic it will be $5 per photo). Kindergarten through 12th grade is for Elkmont/Piney students, but they also welcome all Homeschooled students. Babies
through pre-school can be from any area. Event entry is $5 per person at the door. For more information contact the Elkmont Band Room, Mr. Pigg, any band booster officer or Keila Berzett 256-777-8216.

Apr 9, 2022-- 5K Color Run for Clean Water.  A benefit event for the Athens High School Interact Club. Race begins at 9:00am at the Athens Middle School north parking lot. Entry fees are $30.00 for adults and $15.00 for students. 

Apr 9, 2022 -- Meet the Easter Bunny at UG White Mercantile.  From 11:00am till 2:pm. Enjoy activities, storytime and more. 101 North Jefferson Street in downtown Athens.
 
​Apr 9, 2022 -- The North Alabama Zoological Society is excited to host its first outdoor kids festival. Begins at 10AM - 2PM at Monte Sano State Park.  More info here...

Apr 9, 2022 -- Friendship Church​ Community Easter Eggstravaganza! 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Swan Creek Park (next to Athens Middle School) Gates will open at 2:30 p.m. for the special needs community. There will be eggs, inflatables, games, a bake sale, music, food trucks, and more! We hope to see you there!

Apr 9, 2022 -- ​Yesterdays Event Center. “60’s Beach Party” Early Dinner Show. Featuring “The DJ’s & Friends”  Saturday evenings, all tickets $25 each includes reserved seating, complete dinner, show, unlimited soft drinks, and free parking. Doors open 5pm, program including dinner 5:30pm, showtime 6:30pm, 90 minute show. Reservations required in advance. Call (256) 232-2506

Apr 10, 2022 -- Easter Egg Hunt for those with Special Needs and Families​. Grab your family and your Easter basket and get ready for some fun. Athens High School Courtyard. 1:00pm - 3:00pm.  Sponsored by Make A Way Foundation

Apr 9, 2022 -- Mooresville Historic Walking Tours   Join the Town of Mooresville at the Mooresville Post Office (Lauderdale Street) at 9:45AM for a 1-hour free tour of the history and architecture of Mooresville.  www.MooresvilleAL.com

Apr 15, 2022 -- Easter Egg Hunt. Athens Parks and Recreation is hosting 3 Easter egg hunts at the Sportsplex in Athens from 2:00pm till 4:00pm. Bring the family and join the fun.

Apr. 21, 2022 -- Political Forum. The Athens-Limestone County Chamber of Commerce and Athens State University are partnering to host a political forum for all local candidates. 4pm at McCandless Hall. This event is open to the public and free to attend. We hope to see you there!

​Apr 21, 2022 -- Yesterdays Event Center  “Remnants” oldies band. Lunch $15, show free with paid lunch, in case of a sell-out, a Friday show may be added (next day). Doors open 10:30am, program including lunch 11am, showtime 12noon, 1 hr show. (256) 232-2506

Apr 23, 2022 -- 2022 Earth Day and Outdoor EXPO –  Kept Athes Limestone Beautful is excited to partner with Athens State University this year to host our Earth Day and Outdoor EXPO! Vendors, exhibitors, shows and more. Time: 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at  Athens State University Campus.  Learn More

Apr 23 - 24, 2022 --  Perfect Game Baseball Super Regional. Enjoy the ball games at the Sportsplex in Athens.

April 23, 2022 -- Cornhole for a Cure: Limestone County's American Cancer Society. Limestone County's American Cancer Society Relay for Life team, County for a Cure, has scheduled the 2022 Cornhole for a Cure tournament. Sign-in registration begins at 11am. $50 for a team of two

APR 29, 2022 -- Spring Health Fair for Seniors. Presented by Limestone Manor from 12PM till 2PM.Door prizes, vendors, food and more. 600 Highway 31 South in Athens.

April 29, 2022 --  Fridays After Five. From 5pm till 8:30 pm.  Enjoy downtown Athens. R&B Funk Night – Regional favorite Utopia will perform from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.Hear covers from your favorite 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, 00’s bands, The Temptations, The Four Tops,Bruno Mars, and a ton more! Enjoy downtown Athens.

​April 30, 2022 --  Athens Car, Truck & Bike Show On The Square. From 8:00am till 2:00 pm Antique automobile enthusiasts converge around the Limestone County Courthouse in historic downtown Athens, AL for one of the largest antique cars, trucks, motorcycles, and more shows. Stroll among the antique automobiles, peruse the boutique lined sidewalks, get a booth at the local eateries, or just treat your self to some ice cream -- Cars on the Square has something for the whole family!
