Feb 1, 2022 -- Ask A Master Gardener at the Athens-Limestone Public Library (603 South Jefferson Street in Athens) from 10:15AM-2:15PM with the Athens-Limestone Master Gardeners. For more information about the Master Gardeners, you can contact them at [email protected].
Feb 5, 2022 – Play Outside Day Families everywhere are encouraged to get outside the first Saturday of every month and play in public parks, enjoy trails, hit the waterways, explore greenspaces and just play! Limestone County offers over 20 trails to explore including walking, cycling, horseback riding and kayaking – perfect for all ages. For more information: 256-232-5411

Feb 14, 2022 -- Valentine's Day Observed Don't forget your sweetheart! Take them to dinner, buy them flowers, pick up some sweet treats, watch a movie or take a stroll -- we have loads of ideas to make your day special.
Feb. 16, 2022 -- Listerhill Foundation is excited to announce that their first Shoe Drop of 2022 will take place on Wednesday, February 16th at 8:30am at Athens Elementary iAcademy. Every child will receive a new pair of brand name athletic shoes and five pairs of socks courtesy of Listerhill’s Kicks for Kids Program. Location: 601 S Clinton Street, Athens, AL
Feb. 17, 2022 -- Greater Ardmore Chamber Member, Elk River Health & Nursing of Ardmore, is having a Grand Opening and Ribbon cutting on Thursday, February 17, 2022, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. (Ribbon Cutting will be at 4:30 p.m.). Elk River Health & Nursing will have light refreshments and tours of the facility.
Feb 19, 20022 -- Baseball Gear Pickup Day – For those interested in baseball gear for the upcoming rec baseball season, go to the Sports Plex baseball fields.
Feb 19, 2022 -- Beans and Rice Giveaway - Beans and Rice will be given away on the third Saturday, 9 to 11am, by volunteers at Saint Timothy’s Episcopal Church in front of 207 East Washington Street in downtown Athens. No names taken, no ID required. Information at 256-232-2567 or email [email protected].

Feb 25, 2022 Swamp John’s - There will be Swamp John’s on Friday, 4 to 7 p.m., at the Big Lots parking lot on Hwy. 72 in Athens. Plates are $13.00 each with your choice of fish, shrimp, chicken, sides and tea. Come and enjoy a great meal! For more information, contact Marie McGuire at 256-998-0195.

Feb 28, 2022 -- Black History Event. Calhoun Community College is excited to host Dr. Rolundus Rice, aka “The Dapper Dean”, for its Annual Black History Month Program. The event will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the Advanced Technology Center on the college’s Decatur campus, 6250 US Hwy 31N, Tanner, AL. The event is free and open to the public.
