October Events

Below are some of the events that have been scheduled for October.  This list is subject to change as more events are added so we invite to check back often to see what is going on in Athens and Limestone County.

Oct 1, 2022 -- ​Yesterdays Event Center. “60’s Beach Party” Early Dinner Show. Featuring “The DJ’s & Friends”  Saturday evenings, all tickets $25 each includes reserved seating, complete dinner, show, unlimited soft drinks, and free parking. Doors open 5pm, program including dinner 5:30pm, showtime 6:30pm, 90 minute show. E-mail reservations required in advance.

Oct 1, 2022 -- Trash Attach Days 
in Limestone County. Residents will be able to dump debris for free for spring and fall cleanup. Limestone County residents may take a trailer or pickup truck load of debris to the Republic Services Transfer Station, 16100 BFI Lane (off Hwy. 72, just east of 7 Mile Post Rd.). Times will be 7:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. GUIDELINES AND RESTRICTIONS: Maximum of 4 automobile tires, any appliance with Freon must have the compressor removed or be accompanied by a certificate stating that the Freon has been professionally removed. No hazardous household or medical waste. Contractors may NOT dump for free. Must provide PROOF RESIDENCY (EX. CURRENT UTILITY BILL).

Oct 2022 -- Athens North Pole Tree Sponsorship open... help make this community event held annual in Big Spring Memorial Park in the month of December happen by sponsoring a tree for your business, church, group, family or non-profit to decorate.  Don't want to decorate?  Non-profits in the area are looking for sponsors and they'll handle the decorating.   For more information stop by the Athens-Limestone Visitors Center 100 North Beaty Street in Athens from 8:00AM-4:30PM any Monday-Friday (except holidays) or call 256-232-5411.  Find more at  VisitAthensAL.com/North-Pole-Stroll

Oct 2022 -- Haunt Walks Tickets on sale at the Athens-Limestone Visitors Center (100 North Beaty Street in Athens) from 8:30AM-5:00PM Monday-Friday.  Adults: $10.00 each for ages 13 and up and 12 & under $5.00 - cash or check. Oct 2022 -- Athens Cemetery Stroll in the Athens City Cemetery (East Hobbs Street near College Street in Athens) with Hobbs Camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and Athens-Limestone County Tourism Association from 2:00PM-4:00PM.   Stroll among the headstones in the pastoral Athens City Cemetery as the spirits return to share tales of history, family an lore of some of Limestone County['s most renowned figures -- as well as a few visiting spirits who have come to recount their lives for you. Oct 2022 -- Doomsday Haunt  Who knows what awaits at The Doomed Town (24952 U.S. Highway 72 in Athens) since its' long-forgotten nuclear explosion and quarantine has faded from memory except those forsaken residents left behind the fences. Ticket sales from 7:00PM-11:00PM; $20.00 each or speed up your access with a slash pass for $30.00. Suggest 12 and up; under 12 accompanied by an adult and parental discretion advised.  Active Military, Veterans, Fire & Rescue, and Police members can enjoy an exclusive $3.00 discount in appreciation of their service with valid ID.  For more information: doomsdayhaunt.com

Oct 2022 -- Lester Haunted Hospital (30338 Lester Road in Lester) will be filled with screams and terror from 8:00PM-11:00PM. Children under 13 years must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older. Admission: $20.00 per person. For more information: TheLesterHauntedHopital.com

Oct 2022 -- Zombie Paintball at Grace Hill Farms (22611 Grace Hill Lane in Athens) with gates opening at 6:30PM and last ride out at 10:30PM.  Jump on board the Zombie Assault Vehicle featuring several mounted paint ball guns to fend off the zombie hordes that have taken over the farm.  Trip last approximately 25 minutes on a 2.5 mile course with 100 glow-in-the-dark rounds per participant.  Riders must maintain Covid precautions including mask and sanitizing.  $25.00 per rider (100 rounds included); $15.00 for evacuees (just riding).  Concessions available as well as a shooting range participants can enjoy at $5.00 per 60 paintballs.  Others activities as well like movies, cornhole and horseshoes.   Tickets and more info: ​gracehillfarmsal.com/zombie-paintball

​Oct 2022 -- Halloween ATV Trail in Elkmont (28890 AL-127 in Elkmont) from 9:00AM-8:00PM. The Halloween decorated trails are great for beginners and the whole family - so bring the dirt bike and/or four wheeler and make a day. $5.00 per rider.

Oct 2022 -- Vietnam Veterans Spaghetti Lunch (17915 W Elm St, Athens). Lunch is 11:00AM-1:00PM meal includes Spaghetti, Texas toast, salad or coleslaw, dessert and a beverage for $8.00. Eat in or take out.  All proceeds go to High School Scholarship. Delivery available within the City Limits.

Oct 2022 -- 2021 ABS Fore the Students Golf Tournament at Canebrake Golf Club (23015 Founders Circle in Athens) from 7:00AM-12:00PM benefiting programs at Athens Bible School.  For more information:  Fore the Students

Oct 2022 -- 55th Tennessee Valley Old Time Fiddlers Convention at Athens State University (300 North Beaty Street in Athens). Tickets, schedule, and information at  tvotfc.org 

Oct 2022 -- 22nd Annual Wacky Quacky Ducky Derby with KALB adjacent to Big Spring Memorial Park (127 East Street in Athens) from 4:00PM-6:00PM.  Buy your lucky duck or a whole Quack Pack at the Keep Athens-Limestone Beautiful office in the old Gulf Station or online at KALBcares.org  for your chances at prizes like Walt Disney World Tickets, cash and other great prizes.

​Oct 2022 -- Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day Candlelight Memorial at the Limestone County Courthouse (150 South Marion Street in Athens) from 7:00PM-8:00PM. The Alabama Chapter of the TEARS Foundation will be lighting candles to honor the name's of baby's lost to miscarriage, still birth and infant or child loss. The name's will be spoken aloud as each candle is lit on the east side steps of the courthouse. You may submit a name to honored by mail alabamachapter@thetearsfoundation.org and you do not have to be present for your baby to be honored.

Oct 2022 -- Annual Sports-Plex Charity Car Show at the Athens SportsPlex (US31 and Elm Street in Athens) from 9:00AM-2:00PM benefiting Eli's Block Party Childhood Cancer Foundation. Registration:$20.00 per vehicle; registration ends at 12:00PM. Food and drink concessions, Kids' Dug Out Playground, DJ & music by David Sharp. Notice.... Show and Shine only - No trophies or judging. All cars/trucks/bikes welcome. Door prizes and cash awards throughout the day. For more info: Joseph at 256-777-0606

Oct 2022 -- Ardmore Car Show at John Barnes Park (30515 Ardmore Ridge Road in Ardmore, TN) from 10:00AM-3:00PM. Pre-entry fee: $20.00. Day of Registration: $25.00. ​Oct 2022 -- Limestone County Powwow at the Limestone Rodeo Arena (18118 AL-99 on the right just past the Elm Street/AL-99 (Buck Island Road) intersection) from 9:00AM-5:00PM Saturday and 10:00AM-5:00PM Sunday.  Grand entry at noon each day.  Drumming, Dancing, music and more for the whole family.  Adults: $8.00; Kids 6-12 & Seniors: $5.00; Kids 5&under: Free.  All Dancers and Drums welcome. Oct 2022 -- Athens Fall Saturday Market is a state-certified farmers market. Enjoy fresh produce, baked goods, music, art, and crafts at the Green Street pavilion (409 West Green Street in Athens) from 8:00AM to 12:00PM.  Trick or Treat for the little ones.  Costumes encouraged but not required. athensmainstreet.org

Oct 2022 --  CASA Swing Fore Children Golf Tournament for CASA of North Alabama at Canebrake Club (23015 Founders Circle in Athens) from TBA.  Proceeds will help CASA programs that advocate for abused and neglected children of Limestone County.  Team of four entry is $500.00. Register your team or pay for a sponsorship online at www.casaofnorthalabama.org

​Oct 2022 -- Yard Sale Fundraiser with Athens-Limestone Rescue Squad at the station (1401 Freeman Avenue in Athens). Come shop a variety of items - household, furniture, and more starting at 8:00AM. Monies go to benefit the rescue squad. To donate or make inquiries: Mickey Brannan 256-345-2212. 

​Oct 2022 -- Night of the Bands with Limestone County Bands at East Limestone High School Cavnar Field (15641 East Limestone Road in Athens) from TBA.  Tickets are $5.00 each and are available from any band student.  This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy great music and support our local marching band student

Oct 2022 --The Hills are Alive Haunted Trail (10005 Sandlin Cemetery Road in Athens) from 7:00PM-10:0PM to wander the haunted trail and encounter wolves and other scary creatures that will make you howl with fright. Admission: Adult: $15.00; Children 10 & under: $10.00.

Oct 20, 2022 -- Senior Lunch Matinee at Yesterdays  Event Center.  “The Cadillacs” oldies, doo-wop, and old country  $15.00 per person -- includes meal and and show. Individuals and Groups welcome. Bus parking available. No show and cancellation fees may apply. For more information or to RSVP required -- email for more information ​
