Storytime at the Visitor Center
Sparks Fun In Reading In July

Picture
Athens-Limestone County Tourism Association and Learn to Read have invited special guest readers from throughout Limestone County to come to the Athens-Limestone Visitors Center, located on the corner of Beaty and Market Streets next to the “Duck Pond”, in the month of July to share their love of reading with children pre-K to Grade 4 but older children are welcome to come too.

The Storytime hour will be from ...
... 11:00AM-12:00PM in the meeting room at the rear of the Visitor’s Center. Children and their parents, grandparents or guardians (children must be accompanied for the event) are welcome to bring a snack or lunch to enjoy during storytime.
“We’re going to have veterans, a policeman, a fireman, Mayor Marks, Chairman Daly, Commissioners Black and Turner, Lynne Hart of KALB and many other really special people from our community the kids will love come share their favorite stories or a special selection provided by Learn to Read,” says Cayce Lee, Social Media Specialist for Athens-Limestone County Tourism Association.
“July is often a month when caretakers and families are looking for something special to do and this looked like a great time to offer a Storytime. There are families constantly in the park, their checking our website for activities, their calling and asking about things to do – and we decided to rise to the occasion and share the gift of stories and reading with the help of our partner, Learn to Read, and the generous members of our community who are coming to spend time with the kids,” Ms. Lee continued.
Anyone interested in attending Storytime at the Visitor Center can visit Tourism’s website at VisitAthensAL.com/Storytime and can check the schedule for Storytime and Readers or they can stop by the Athens-Limestone Visitors Center at 100 North Beaty Street in Athens from 8:00AM-5:00PM Monday-Friday or call 256-232-5411. Ms. Lee advises there will not be Storytimes on some days and Readers may change if an emergency arises.
