The Athenians Players To Present
"LET’S MURDER MARSHA"

Picture
Athens, AL – The Athenian Players invite you to join them as they present the wildly hilarious tale of how a misunderstanding left a happy housewife to believe that she was going to be murdered by her family. In their Summer 2019 performance of Let’s Murder Marsha by Monk Ferris, Marsha, who is hopelessly addicted to reading murder mysteries, overhears her loving husband discussing her upcoming birthday surprise with an interior decorator. To her ears, though, it sounds like they are planning to murder her!

With the assistance of...

... her next-door neighbor, Marsha tries to turn the tables on them with a poisoned potion. When her own mother shows up for her birthday a day early, Marsha thinks she is in on the diabolical scheme. When her maid’s date, a policeman, shows up to take the maid out, Marsha thinks he is on to her poisoning attempt. After Marsha’s intended victims discover what she has supposed, they decide to teach her a lesson by actually pretending to be murderers.

This show is terrific for family audiences who like their comedy broad, fast, and nonstop. Directed by Dr. Hugh Long, the play will run from July 25 - 27 with performances at 7:30 pm each evening. Tickets are on sale now.

Let’s Murder Marsha’s talented cast includes David House as Tobias Gilmore, Chelsea Baker as Marsha Gilmore, Taylor McPeters as Virgil Baxter, Jilya Gossett as Persis Devore, Vicki Montgomery as Bianca, Alicia Carpenter as Lynette Thoren, and Stella Frost as Ben Quade.

Performances will take place in the Studio Theatre of the Performing Arts Center at the Alabama Center for the Arts, 133 2nd Avenue, Decatur. General admission tickets are $15.00, and senior or student admission tickets are $10.00. Tickets can be purchased in person at the Alabama Center for the Arts box office, online at http://www.athens.edu/athenianplayers, or by phone at (256) 260-3007.

(One discount per person.)
