​The Alabama Division of Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries (WFF) has deployed six self-service Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) sampling stations in north Alabama as part of its increased CWD sampling surveillance efforts in the state. The sample station freezers are in Fayette, Lamar, Marion, Franklin, Lauderdale, and Colbert counties, and are available to receive deer head samples 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Calhoun Community College Announces Program in Celebration of MLK Observation

​Decatur, AL -- Calhoun Community College will pay tribute to slain civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during the college's annual celebration program scheduled for Tuesday, January 15, 2019.  This year’s program, hosted by the college's Black Student Alliance (BSA), will begin at 11 a.m. on Calhoun's Decatur campus in the Aerospace Training Center (ATC).  The program is free and open to the public.

​The Tennessee Valley Authority will team up with Keep Athens-Limestone Beautiful again this year to host a litter cleanup in Limestone County.  This year, the annual Elk River Cleanup will also include a county-wide attack on trash. 
 
On Saturday, March 9th, KALB and TVA hope to have a record number of volunteers out cleaning up roadsides, neighborhoods, waterways and public lands throughout Limestone County.
