Make It An Athens-Limestone Valentines

Treat Your Sweetheart To A
Wildwood Good Time

Just steps of the Square in downtown Athens is a little innocuous store front with a small seating area outside and even smaller seating area behind the lettered glass. This little gem of a spot, Wildwood Deli, doesn’t beguile the offerings of carefully crafted foods of owner and chef Matthew Fisher and the entertaining space above the quaint first floor where you will most likely be greeted by Matthew’s mother, Rhonda.

If you haven’t had a chance to explore the daily menu of Wildwood Deli, or if you have, it’s what happens...
... Fridays after normal hours that has most people traveling miles to enjoy culinary delights of Matthew, Secret Suppers. A splendid dining experience reflecting a variety of entrees accompanied by soup and dessert courses plus a selection of wines and craft beers along with the Southern-staple Sweet Tea.

In the flair of the Friday Secret Supper comes the special “Sweetheart Supper Event” the Saturday before Valentine’s starting at 6:00PM. The normal first come, first served Friday practice has switched to required pre-paid reservations to treat your sweetheart.

Matthew has set a 4-course Prix Fixe menu for Saturday’s delightful dining experience with a Soup Course of Herbed Butter Nut Squash with Bacon Crumbles and Crostini Basket. To freshen the palette, the Salad Course is a Fresh Greens Salad with Garden Vegetables dressed with Fresh Lemon Vinaigrette and Crisp Croutons. The delectable Entree Course choices for the evening are Surf & Turf with a 8 ounce Hand-cut Filet Mignon topped with Grilled Shrimp and served with Chef’s Lemon-Garlic Butter and sided with Buttery Mashed Potatoes and Asparagus Tips or Chef’s Choice Grilled Grouper Fillet topped with Sun-dried Tomato Sauce and Feta Crumble and sited with Southern-style Grits and Zucchini Fritters. You’ll finish the night’s dining with Wildwood Deli’s High Roller Cake – homemade layers of Chocolate Brownie, Cheesecake and Red Velvet dressed with Homemade Cream Cheese Frosting. Enjoy traditional beverages of water or tea or choose something from the craft beer or wine selection to pair with your meal. The meal is $59.95 per person and does not include tax, gratuity and alcoholic beverages.

Too book reservations, call 256-206-9384 from 9:30AM-10:15AM or 1:15PM-2:30PM. Text 256-777-0485 from 3:00PM-5:00PM. Reservations accepted until full or through Friday, February 12th at 2:30PM.

Wildwood Deli is located at 113 West Market Street in Athens. Their hours are Monday-Friday from 10:30AM through 2:30PM and Friday evenings from 5:00PM through 8:00PM for Secret Suppers unless otherwise noted on their Facebook page.
