Below are some of the events that have been submitted for June.  This list is subject to change as more events are added so we invite to check back often to see what is going on in Athens and Limestone County.

Jun 1 - 30, 2022 -- National Great Outdoor Month   No matter your preferred mode of enjoying the great outdoors – hiking, biking, kayaking to name a few – nature is calling. Jun 1 - 30, 2021 -- National Camping Month  Gather family and friends, don’t forget the s’mores supply and go camping! Nature is calling and there are so many ways to enjoy a weekend or even more camping.   Explore our RV Parks, plan your trip on our trails and treks,  include a little time on the water,  and just in case you need a little help with dinner.

Jun 1 - 30, 2022 -- National Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Month is great time to support local farmers at Farmers Markets and roadside stands.     Here's a little handy guide to help you explore Athens-Limestone's fresh veg and fruit.

Jun 4, 2022  – Play Outside Day  Families everywhere are encouraged to get outside the first Saturday of every month and play in public parks, enjoy trails, hit the waterways, explore greenspaces and just play!  Limestone County offers over 20 trails to explore including walking, cycling, horseback riding and kayaking – perfect for all ages.  For more information: 256-232-5411

Jun 4, 2022 -- National Trail Day is a great time to get out and explore the over 20 trails in our community.  Take a stroll and bird watch, be a community steward and pick up trash and recycling, or hit the waters of the Elk River and just paddle the day away.  We've pulled together some Tools for Explorers for you too that you'll find under our Explore by Themes.

Jun 4, 2022 -- Coffee Call   Veterans of all wars and their families are invited for breakfast and fellowship from 8:00AM-9:30AM at the Alabama Veterans Museum and Archive (100 West Pryor Street in Athens).   256-771-7578

Jun 4, 2022 -- Opening Day at Athens Saturday Market is a state-certified farmers market. Enjoy fresh produce, baked goods, music, art, and crafts at the Green Street pavilion (409 West Green Street in Athens) from 8:00AM to 12:00PM.  athensmainstreet.org

Jun 4, 2022 -- Community Fun Fest Join the town of Elkmont, Alabama for the Community Fun Fest with music, food trucks, cruise-in and fun for the whole family. From 4:00PM till 8:00pm

June 4-5 - Perfect Game State Championship. Enjoy the games at the Sports Plex in Athens

Jun 4, 2022 -- June Cruise In on the Square at the Limestone County Courthouse Square (123 South Jefferson Street in Athens) starting at 6:00PM. No judging, no trophies - just show and shine and enjoy the rides, shops, and restaurants.

Jun 4 - 12, 2022 -- National Boating and Fishing Week is a great time to hit the water and share with friends and family the joys of boating, water sports, angling, and conservation.  Check out Our Waters for opportunities in Limestone County and learn more at TakeMeFishing.org

Jun 4, 2022 -- ​Yesterdays Event Center. “60’s Beach Party” Early Dinner Show. Featuring “The DJ’s & Friends”  Saturday evenings, all tickets $25 each includes reserved seating, complete dinner, show, unlimited soft drinks, and free parking. Doors open 5pm, program including dinner 5:30pm, showtime 6:30pm, 90 minute show. E-mail reservations required in advance.

Jun 6, 2022 -- D-Day Remembrance - a day to remember D-Day and the landing of Allied forces on the beaches of Normandy, France in 1944. Step inside the Alabama Veterans Museum and Archives (100 Pryor Street W in Athens) and explore the life of our military as well as their families on the home front. Free and open to the public (donations welcome). If you are entering the State of Alabama on Interstate 65 South, you have the chance to stop at the Alabama Welcome Center. At the base of the towering Saturn 1B rocket are the veterans monuments. The public is invited to pause and reflect upon the names of each monument.

Jun 11, 2022 -- Kids' Fishing Rodeo. The Limestone County Sportsman Club is hosting the free fishing rodeo from 9:am till noon. Prizes and lunch take place at noon. Located at 23117 Kennedy Road in Athens.  For more information call 256.434.1674

Jun 14, 2022 -- Flag Day Observance -- local governments, area agencies, attractions, restaurants and shops may be closed or have modified hours of operation in observance of this holiday. Please call ahead to confirm availability and hours.

June 16 & 17, 2022 -- Yesterdays Event Center Special “Celebrate America’s Veterans” Show featuring singer/impressionist Kevin Adams, All veterans receive lunch and show at no charge. E-mail reservations required in advance​

June 17, 2022 -- Singing on the Square with Scott & Kristi Nix with the SideHustles. Concert begins at 7pm till 9pm on the Courthouse Steps at the Downtown Square. This is a FREE event however, donations are encouraged! Marion Street will be closed between Washington and Market to allow for guests to bring their own folding chair to sit in. Food trucks will be available as well as the local restaurants. Rain location will be at the Vietnam Veterans Building of America, @ 17915 West Elm Street. *PLEASE NOTE : THERE WILL BE NO PARKING ON THE CLOSED OFF PORTION OF MARION STREET DURING THE CONCERT. 

June 17 & 18, 2022 --Ardmore Truck and Tractor Pull. Bring the family and enjoy the Ardmore Truck and Tractor Pull at 226425 Hamlett St in Ardmore, TN.  Part of the Lucas Oil Pulling League, there will be classes in six different divisions.  Gates open at 5:00PM and competition begins at 7:00PM  For more information call (256) 262-2649

June 18-19,2022 - USSSA Travel State Championship.  Don't miss outstanding ball at the the Sports Plex in Athens.

Jun 19, 2022 -- Father's Day Observed -- take Dad out for a day on the water, treat him to dinner at one of Athens-Limestone 100 plus restaurants and eateries, or enjoy one of many events. 

​June 20, 2022 -- VVA Chapter 511 will have its regular meeting at 6 p.m. Building is open at 5:30 for fellowship. Location is 17915 W. Elm St, Athens.

June 23rd – June 25 -- Athens Lions Club Kiddie Carnival 2022– The Carnival begins Thursday, June 23 – 25 on Thursday, Friday & Saturday nights from 6:30 – 9:30. They have 10 rides that are best suited for kids ages 2-10 years.  Free admission to the carnival and each ride is just a 50¢ ticket.  They have bingo and delicious concessions on-site such as hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, chicken fries, funnel cakes, bottled water, and soft drinks.  Also served are cotton candy, sno cones, and other crowd favorites.  The Athens Lions Club property is located at 309 E Forrest St. in Athens, AL, it’s across from the former Athens Elementary School.  Free parking!

June 24, 2022-- Fridays After Five -- Dance Party Night – Juice, a party and dance band, will perform from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Based out of Huntsville, they bring an energetic soulful funk sound to the music they play. Over a 10-year span, JUICE has played a variety of venues in the Southeast and shared the stage with Kool & the Gang, BoyzIIMen, Hootie and the Blowfish, Cowboy Mouth, and many others.
