Trinity Grand Reunion Comes Home During Labor Day Weekend
This weekend is the Trinity Grand Reunion. This is a bi-annual event where students and staff from Trinity School gather in Athens to celebrate their school history. The school opened after the Civil War and missionaries taught former slaves to read and write. Trinity operated as the only all-black high school in Limestone County until integration in 1970.
The City of Athens proclamation features Trinity history and the 2018 Grand Reunions weekend includes a parade downtown, banquet, picnic and African American Heritage Tour.
