This race was once known as the Trackless Train Trek until a wayward hound dog decided to run 13.1 miles with a group of people for no particular reason other than to run and stole the show by finishing 7th. The pup's name is Ludivine and there's a bit of a celebrity status around her trek that has gained her and this race world recognition.

Her inspirational run lead to the renaming the half marathon to the Elkmont Hound Dog Half Marathon.  The 2018 race will happen in Elkmont, Alabama on the Richard Martin Rails-to-Trails and adjacent roads of the certified circuit on January 20th.  Proceeds will benefit the Elkmont High School Cross-Country Team and the Field and Track Team.
