Donnell House To Offer Past-Port Tours... built by Rev. Robert Donnell, an early and well-known pioneer of North Alabama. The home served as the headquarters of U.S. Col. Ivan Turchin during the Civil War's Sack of Athens, and a confrontation between Maria Donnell and Turchin led to a legendary event! Beginning June 19, the Donnell House will be open for special tours every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and every Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Donations will be greatly appreciated. For more information or to request special tour times, call (239) 249-2211.
