Farewell Reception For President Glenn Scheduled

Picture
Athens, AL – A farewell reception has been scheduled for Athens State President Dr. Bob Glenn and his wife, Laurie, for Thursday, June 28. The reception will be held in...

... the Founders Hall Parlor from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The University welcomes the public to stop by and wish Dr. and Mrs. Glenn well as they set out to begin a new chapter in their lives. To RSVP, please call (256) 233-8185 or email advancement@athens.edu by Friday, June 22.

In honor of the Glenn family, two scholarship funds have been established through the Athens State University Foundation to provide a lasting legacy of President Glenn’s tenure as the University’s 36th president:

The Edgar Massillon Glenn Endowed Scholarship was established by President and Mrs. Glenn to honor the service of Dr. Glenn’s great-grandfather, who served as President of Athens Female College from 1902-1904.

The Bob & Laurie Glenn Endowed Scholarship was established by the Athens State University Foundation to honor Dr. Glenn’s ten years of service to Athens State University from 2008-2018.

Those wishing to contribute to either of the endowments may do so online at athens.edu/giving or by contacting the Office of University Advancement at (256) 233-8185. Donations by check can be made payable to Athens State University Foundation and mailed to 300 North Beaty Street Athens, AL 35611. Please include a note stating which scholarship the funds are to be applied to. All contributors will receive an acknowledgement letter and gift receipt, and notification will be sent to Dr. and Mrs. Glenn that a gift has been made to the endowment. The Athens State University Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and all gifts are tax-deductible as allowed by law.

Dr. Glenn’s last day at Athens State will be July 13, at which point Dr. Ronald Ingle’s term will begin as Interim President. The Executive Committee of the University’s Board of Trustees is currently making preparations to employ an external search firm to coordinate Dr. Glenn’s replacement. Further updates will be provided as the search process continues.
