​American Leakless Co. Employee Wins Grand Prize

One of Keep Athens-Limestone Beautiful’s most important fundraising events took place on Saturday, October 6th.
 
A record number of ducks were adopted for the 18th annual Wacky Quacky Ducky Derby!  1,404 specially-designed rubber racing ducks were adopted and ready to swim their hearts out!  “There were so many ducks adopted we had to divide them into six heats,” said Lynne Hart, KALB Executive Coordinator.  The fastest ducks in each heat were pulled and raced against each other in a Championship Race for...

 ...the $1,000 American Leakless Co. Grand Prize plus 25 additional prizes.  Every duck in the championship race won a prize according to the order they came through the duck trap.
 
American Leakless Company (ALC), located on Roy Long Road in Athens, has sponsored the $1,000 grand prize for two years.  In addition to that sponsorship, ALC also provided two $100 prizes and 1 $50 prize, and purchased 100 $25 Quack Packs of 6 ducks, which they gave to each of their employees to complete and enter into the derby. The winner of the $1,000 grand prize, Devin Pilk, is an employee of American Leakless Co. and was the recipient of one of the gifted Quack Packs.

Tina Finley, Comptroller at American Leakless, said their company appreciates the KALB organization and the work done for our community every day.  “When a city looks well-kept, it definitely gives the impression that it is safe, current, and a great place to raise a family.  We are honored to help support KALB,” said Finley.
 
Hart is grateful for all companies sponsoring prizes.  “The sponsorship of prizes allows every dollar given to adopt ducks to go directly to supporting KALB’s projects and programs throughout the year,” said Hart.  “And we also appreciate the strong participation of our community in this fundraiser.”
