The Athens-Limestone County Public Library offers several online genealogy resources to its patrons, including a library subscription to Ancestry.com. Join Kristopher Reisz, head of research and reference, as he gives a guided tour of these useful websites. This is a free class, no registration required.

Apr 8th -- Flashlight Egg Hunt with Friendship UMC (Lucas Ferry Road in Athens).There will be egg hunts for everyone, including individuals with special needs as well as youth and adults. There will be food vendors serving all your favorite fair-style foods, and your entire family will enjoy inflatables, games, and craft activities. The fun kicks off at 5:30 pm, and the egg hunts begin at 6:00. More details
Apr 8th -- 6th annual City of Athens Relay for Life Bass Fishing Tournament at Ingalls Harbor (Decatur) The City of Athens Relay for Life Team hosts this tournament as a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society and the support of local cancer patients. Each year, we hear great stories from the fishermen and their families who have a personal experience with the fight to beat cancer. REGISTER >>
Apr 11th -- Gettin' Dirty at the Library: Backyard Tomatoes 11th, 11:00 to 12:00. It's time to Get Dirty at the Library! Join us at Athens-Limestone Pubic Library for monthly gardening talks presented by the Limestone County Extension Office and the Alabama Master Gardeners. April's topic will be backyard tomatoes. Feel free to bring a sack lunch. Drinks and a light dessert will be provided. This series is free, no registration required.
Apr 13th -- The Athens High School Jazz Band will be hosting a musical night of jazz, rock, blues, etc to raise funds for future trips and needed equipment. Dinner will be catered by 306 Barbecue. The AHS Jazz Band, along with some guest artists, will be the entertainment for the night. It starts at 6:30PM and will be at the Limestone County Event Center (114 West Pryor Street in Athens). Apr 14th -- Miss Limestone Sheriff's Rodeo Ages 3-18 Pageant Deadline. Contestants in this division compete to win a custom trophy saddle, a custom belt buckle, a watch, scholarship money and much more. The entry fee for this division is $100.00. Apr 14th -- 1st Annual Limestone Music Festival The East Limestone High School Band invites you to their music festival at the Limestone County Event Center starting at 7:00PM. The festival features Erik Smallwood, Wild Parsley, Brent Morgan, Free Range, Hayden Scott, Elizabeth McCrary, Jay Rinkel and Lillian Glanton . Tickets are $10.00 each. Apr 15th -- Easter Egg Hunt with Athens Park and Recreation at the All Kids Park at the Athens SportsPlex (US31 in Athens) Bring the kids and their Easter baskets for activities and hunts starting at 2PM. 0-4 Years Old @ 2:30PM (one parent may assist); 5-9 Years Old @ 3:00PM (one parent may assist); and 10-13 Years Old @ 3:30PM. Apr 22nd -- The County for a Cure Relay for Life team announces their Second Annual Cornhole for a Cure Tournament to benefit the American Cancer Society. The event is held at the Limestone County Sheriff’s Rodeo Arena located on Highway 99 in Athens, Alabama. The tournament is a best two-out-of-three winner’s bracket. The loser’s bracket is one-and-done.
Registration is now open. The registration fee is $40 per team now through April 20, 2017. After April 20th and the day of the event, registration is $50 per team. Apr 29th -- Cars and Bikes on the Square in downtown Athens. Stroll among the antique automobiles, peruse the boutique lined sidewalks, get a booth at the local eateries, or just treat your self to some ice cream. Cars on the Square has something for the whole family! Registration for vehicles is from 8:00AM to 12:00PM and is $20.00. You will only be allowed to park "On The Square" if you are a paid participant in the show. There will be two gates in which you can gain entry to park - 1st is near Green & Jefferson - 2nd near Washington & Clinton. You will pay your registration fee to the attendant at the gate before parking your car.

May 2nd -- Story Time Adventure with 1818 Farms Children ages 3-5 can join 1818 Farms for story time at the farm. Each session will feature farm songs and a farm themed story. Your child will take home a farm craft related to that month’s theme. Children will also feed the chickens, gather eggs, and experience special guest appearances by some of the 1818 Farms' animals. Price - $10 per child and $5 per adult. Each child must be accompanied by an adult. Please pay online for each child attending. Adults can pay when they arrive at Farm. REGISTER
May 5th -- Night at the Ballet with MCCO Please join the Madison City Community Orchestra (MCCO) for an evening of lively ballet music on Friday, May 5th at 7:00pm at James Clemens High School (11306 County Line Road in Madison - East Limestone). Free and open to the public.

May 6th -- Fort Hampton Outfitters LLC (28890 AL-127 in Elkmont) are hosting their annual Paddle for a Cause fundraiser from 7:00AM-8:00PM. They provide the kayak, paddle and flotation device plus chances for door prizes and some other activities. This year they are doing something different - they're giving the proceeds to a local family who need help with medical expenses. May 6th -- Mom/Dad and Me Fairy Garden Workshop with 1818 Farms (24889 Lauderdale Street in Mooresville) Our team at 1818 Farms developed this unique “make and take” fairy garden workshop using only the highest quality containers, plants and handmade painted fairy garden pieces. Our workshop will include step by step instructions on how to design, plant, and care for your magical garden. Children must be accompanied by an adult. May 6th -- Spring Krusher Century Ride The Alabama Backroads Century Series arrives to tackle the roads of Limestone County for their Spring Krusher. May 12th -- Relay for Life of Limestone County comes together at the Athens Sportsplex from 6:00PM to Midnight on May 12th to honor those lost to cancer, to celebrate those who have won the battle, to recognize those who have stood by those with cancer and to raise awareness. The event is free to attend. Variety of team tents, goods and concessions will be for sale to continue the fundraising to end cancer through research by the American Cancer Society.
May 13th -- Limestone County Sheriff's Rodeo Parade Lineup begins at 10:00AM - groups and individuals welcome. Sheriff Blakely and the Grand Marshal will lead the parade starting at 1:00PM, featuring Queen contestants, cowgirls, and cowboys of all ages on horseback along with many buggies and wagons. More info
